One of India’s biggest public sector general insurer, New India Assurance (NIA) led consortium of public sector insurance companies has been awarded the contract to insure Air India’s huge fleet of 126 aircrafts worth 9.5 billion dollars. The consortium outbid the tender submitted by private general insurance companies, for this contract floated by Air India. NIA will insure Air India for 9.5 billion insurance cover for a premium of $22.5 million, which would be a one of the biggest aircraft insurance deals in the whole of Southeast Asia. THREE PSU Insurance Company's get new CMDs


Dear All,
The Central government has effected a top-level reshuffle among the CMDs of public sector insurance companies on Thursday. G Srinivasan, CMD, United India Insurance who has been at the helm of the company for the last four years has been shifted to head the largest general insurance company — New India Assurance.
Srinivasan belongs to New India Assurance and is the senior most CMD among the heads of state-owned general insurers.
Miland Khrat, acting CMD of Agriculture Insurance Company (AIC), will succeed Srinivasan at United India Assurance.
PJ Joseph, general manager, United India Assurance who was earlier shortlisted as a candidate to be promoted to head a general insurer has been posted as the new CMD of AIC.
The government has issued the letters for the new appointments by Thursday evening(11-10-2012). It is almost after a year that New India Assurance would function with a full-time chairman and managing director.
