One of India’s biggest public sector general insurer, New India Assurance (NIA) led consortium of public sector insurance companies has been awarded the contract to insure Air India’s huge fleet of 126 aircrafts worth 9.5 billion dollars. The consortium outbid the tender submitted by private general insurance companies, for this contract floated by Air India. NIA will insure Air India for 9.5 billion insurance cover for a premium of $22.5 million, which would be a one of the biggest aircraft insurance deals in the whole of Southeast Asia. G Srinivasan - The new CMD of New India Assurance

Dear Friends,

Mr. G Srinivasan, former Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD) of United India Insurance Company Ltd, will now take over as the CMD of New India Assurance. After the suspension of Mr. M Ramadoss in 2011, there was no chairman at New India Assurance for more than a year.

The government finally cleared the appointment process of Mr. Srinivasan as the head of New India Assurance. The government had suspended former chairman of New India, M Ramadoss as there were some serious allegations against him while he was heading Oriental Insurance. The final decision is yet to be taken in this matter and the case is pending with Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

In October 2007, Mr. Srinivasan assumed charge as CMD of United India Insurance Company Ltd. He has an experience of over 25 years in the insurance industry. Prior to joining the United India, he was the Managing Director of The New India Insurance Co (TNT) Ltd, Trinidad, and General Manager for New India. Mr. Srinivasan is a Commerce Graduate, Associate of the Institute of Cost & Works Accountants and a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India.

THREE PSU Insurance Company's get new CMDs


Dear All,
The Central government has effected a top-level reshuffle among the CMDs of public sector insurance companies on Thursday. G Srinivasan, CMD, United India Insurance who has been at the helm of the company for the last four years has been shifted to head the largest general insurance company — New India Assurance.
Srinivasan belongs to New India Assurance and is the senior most CMD among the heads of state-owned general insurers.
Miland Khrat, acting CMD of Agriculture Insurance Company (AIC), will succeed Srinivasan at United India Assurance.
PJ Joseph, general manager, United India Assurance who was earlier shortlisted as a candidate to be promoted to head a general insurer has been posted as the new CMD of AIC.
The government has issued the letters for the new appointments by Thursday evening(11-10-2012). It is almost after a year that New India Assurance would function with a full-time chairman and managing director.
